Wits’ End

20 minutes

Wits’ End is an inevitable confrontation between a woman and her father suspended in time. Her final inhale is stretched and warped as she prepares to speak truth to indifferent ears. Performed in silence, the piece offers a striking juxtaposition—a desperate, suppressed voice unfolding within an indifferent, unaffected landscape. This solo exists in the landslide of memories and histories present in tumultuous familial relationships. It is also the formation of a new pseudo-memory in order to fabricate closure in the absence of the event itself. In other words, the woman imagines a conversation that will likely never come to fruition.
